It is hard to watch television without seeing one of the many ads for online dating sites. These sites promise that you will find true love by matching you with your perfect mate. You will find someone who is sweet, caring and who you can have great sex with. You can find all this for a monthly price, usually around $50.00 per month.

I find it hard to believe that this is where we have ended up. Finding our true love on a computer, being matched to this person by complete strangers. People who have never met you, these are the ones who are going to find this perfect match for you.It's like we can no longer be trusted to find our own partners, now we have to pay for someone to do it for us. Sometimes it feels like prostitution of a sort, paying for love. Sex is not involved up front but eventually both people will end up doing it and since you paid to meet them thenthat almost makes you hooker.

In the old times, we used to find a man by actually meeting them in person. We would find someone sweet and interesting, we would chat a bit and if we got along okay then make a date to see each other. There would be several dates or more before sex was involved and we would get to know the person. No waiting to be matched, we were able to deduce on our own if this person was right for us or not.

I have many friend my age that met their true love this way. These couples have been together for over 40 years, which is more than I can say for the couples that are matched on these sites. I myself have been married to the same sweet, wonderful man for 35 years and I did not need strangers to help me meet him. We courted for over a year and then got married and have always been very happy.

Maybe I am just an old lady who needs to get used to the new way of doing things but I hope all these young folks that are looking for love online find happiness too. Maybe they will prove me wrong by finding love and staying together like my husband and I.
